The story behind the 70^th Anniversary Teas

It was a sunny day in the month of October last year when sons of Mr. Dilmah, Merrill J. Fernando, set out to create the most personal gift of tea on earth – teas to celebrate their father’s 70^th year in tea and 90^th birthday. His sons, Dilhan and Malik, wanted the essence of a life devoted to tea, in the essence of three teas devoted to him. However, the very next day, till mid December 2019, Mother Nature had other plans; Dilmah’s tea gardens in Sri Lanka were hit with rainstorms that watered down the quality of the leaf! Time was of the essence as Dilhan and Malik tried twice in early December to handpick the tender leaves for this tea, but when they tasted it, it did not taste of sunshine. The odd little silver lining however was it served as a beautiful reminder that Ceylon teas are truly crafted by Nature, and not man. Thus, the sons patiently waited for the sun! At last, with long hours of sunshine clearing late December clouds, and adding the very essence of sunshine and brightness into tea… 3 teas were finally handpicked and handmade in January and February 2020, and tasted to match the quality of the world’s finest tea, with the added quality of personifying the identity of the world’s most experienced teamaker.

The 3 teas – Endane Estate Sapphire Pekoe, Craighead Estate Celebration Pekoe, and Emerald Hills Anniversary Green Tea – are produced in very small batches. Ever tasted what sunshine can do after months of rainfall? This is it.

Terms and Conditions of the Dilmah Teamaker Game and Competition

1. How to enter the Dilmah Teamaker Game and Competition: 
   Android Users – Using the browser on your mobile (not PC) tap here. This will take you to the Google Play Store app page "IMI Games" where The Dilmah Teamaker Game and Competition is hosted. Download and install the “IMI Games” app and follow the instructions to set up your profile. The Dilmah Teamaker Game and Competition will then automatically load.
   iOS Users – Using the browser on your mobile (not PC) tap here. This will take you to the "IMI Games" platform where The Dilmah Teamaker Game and Competition is hosted. Tap on the Dilmah Teamaker banner at the top of the screen to begin playing.
2. How to play: Collect the tender leaves and bud while avoiding the rainstorms. Players’ best scores will be updated on the LIVE leaderboard within the gaming platform.
3. How to check on your high score and Top 10 Players on the LIVE leaderboard:
   Android Users – Tap on the podium icon (next to the trophy icon) at the bottom of the screen to view the LIVE leaderboard.
   iOS Users – On your homepage, search for “Dilmah Teamaker” or find us under “Trending Games” at the bottom of the screen. Tapping on the Dilmah Teamaker game here will take you to the detailed page where you will find the LIVE leaderboard.
4. Top 10 players by 15^th May 2020, 2pm Sri Lanka time (8:30am GMT) wins 1 Dilmah 70th Anniversary Tea each.
5. The Teamaker Competition will run from 3^rd May 2020 to 15^th May 2020.
6. Eligibility: Participation is open to global audiences of 18 years and above. The promoter is Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC. Employees of Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC, their joint promoters and their immediate families are not eligible to win. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of all entries.
7. The Prize: Winners will receive one of either Endane Estate Sapphire Pekoe, Craighead Estate Celebration Pekoe, or Emerald Hills Anniversary Green Tea. These 3 teas are exclusive to the Dilmah 70th Anniversary Tea range. Winners cannot select which tea they will receive from the range. The selected tea will be distributed at Dilmah’s discretion.
8. Winners will be contacted through the details provided when setting up their profile. Please make sure your details are up to date. The Top 10 Players will be asked to provide their mobile number and delivery address at the end of the competition. If any one of the Top Ten Players do not respond within 3 weeks of being contacted, those individuals will forfeit the prize.
9. Prize Shipping: Please bear with us, due to the pandemic there may be delays in deliveries. We will ship out your prize as soon as possible.
