New orchid species discovered in Walankada Forest Reserve

A rare orchid was discovered at Walankanda Forest Reserve in Ratnapura District where Dilmah is conducting research studies while building a Nature Corridor in an abandoned tea land that will connect said Walankanda Forest Reserve with Iharakanda Forest Reserve. This finding is testament to the biodiversity that exists in the area that is worth preserving. In fact, according to the Principal scientist, Dr. Nalaka Geekiyanage, the Corridor generates an annual ecological wealth of US$ 382,362.

Dilmah Tea and Kahawatte Plantations donate Rs. 25 mn. High Dependency Care Unit to Nawalapitiya General Hospital

Nawalapitiya, Sri Lanka – The Merrill J. Fernando High Dependency Care Facility was inaugurated on August 16 at the, Nawalapitiya District General Hospital. The facility, costing nearly Rs. 25 mn., was funded by Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company Plc and its associate Kahawatte Plantations Plc with the facilitation of the MJF Charitable Foundation, Dilmah announced.
