Climate Change Research Station
Sri Lanka, being an island nation, is particularly susceptible to the impacts of climate change including rises in sea level, frequent occurrences of droughts and floods, increase in rainfall intensity and landslides and higher temperatures as well as increased frequency of pest and disease outbreaks; all of which have been experienced throughout the nation in the recent past.
Dilmah Conservation established Sri Lanka’s first Climate Change Research Station at Dilmah’s Queensbury Estate in Nawalapitiya, Sri Lanka. The station was set up to address the dearth of scientific research of climate change in Sri Lanka, thereby facilitating the development of adaptation and mitigation strategies.
